“We are so excited for the grand opening of this new facility and we are quickly approaching completion. As always, the dedication and support of this community has been incredible. We are so thankful for the opportunity to continue our tradition of providing compassionate, quality patient care for the residents of northwest North Carolina through the new Blowing Rock Facility,” stated Rob Hudspeth, Senior Vice President for System Advancement.

We would also like to thank those who made the events possible, Addie Cardwell – Special Events Coordinator at ARHS Foundation, Meg Andrews – Blowing Rock Country Club Catering and Events Manager, the Blowing Rock Country Club staff, Bo Henderson – Events Chair and Debbie Covington – Vice Chair, and committee members. This year, the committee spared no detail to make the Patrons evening and fashion show one to remember, from the table settings to the models and vendors, the events ran flawlessly. The events were filled with laughter, dancing — and sweet memories were made. This year’s committee members were Linda Campbell, Marty Couch, Suzanne Miller, Jessica Powell, Alice Roess, Billie Rogers, Genie Starnes, and Emily Wolfe. We appreciate all the time this year’s committee dedicated to planning and executing these successful events.

2016 Woman of the Year

The 2016 Woman of the Year award was presented to Harriet Davant. Mrs. Davant has been a prominent influence in the Blowing Rock community since moving here with her physician husband in the 1950s. To highlight a few of her contributions to healthcare, Mrs. Davant served as a member of the Blowing Rock Hospital Board of Directors and founded the Watauga Medical Auxiliary.

This year the committee decided to recognize Mrs. Renee Godwin and Dr. Herman Godwin, Jr. as Honorary Chairs because of the lasting impression they have left on our community.

We value the community commitment and enthusiasm about The Foley Center at Chestnut Ridge, which will offer post-acute care, including short- and long-term rehabilitative services, skilled nursing care, memory care support, and palliative care. These services will enhance the quality of life of High Country residents.

Finally, thanks to all who attended and donated to these events. Without your continued and enthusiastic support, this tradition would not be what it is today.
