Sapphire Raffle for Cancer Emergency Fund

P1090102Doc's Rock's Gem Mine is doing a raffle for a star sapphire worth $4,292.93 in May to benefit the Cancer Emergency Fund. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at Doc's Rock's Gem Mine. The raffle will be held on May 27th at 5pm.

Doc's Rock's Gem Mine has raised money for cancer for a few years now. Doc lost his sister to breast cancer. Last year, they learned about the Cancer Emergency Fund and raised money throughout October. They then decided to continue to give their future collected donations to the Cancer Emergency Fund.


Healthcare System loses a Partner and Friend

Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS) lost a wonderful friend this week. Hugh Fields, former board member and strong supporter of ARHS, passed away March 1, 2011. According to Hampton Funeral Services online, "Hugh's warm smile, "How ya doin' partner?" greeting, and witty one liners will be missed by those who knew and loved him. (Read More)
