Dr. Doug Trate earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. After completing his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital (TUH), Dr. Trate followed his passion in treating people with gastrointestinal diseases and completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and an additional research fellowship in GI Motility at TUH.
For more than 22 years while residing in the High Country community, Dr. Trate has enjoyed taking care of patients with diseases of the digestive tract, such as heartburns/reflux disease, abdominal pain, liver and pancreatic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s/Ulcerative Colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, and hemorrhoids. With multiple aunts and uncles with colon cancer, one of Dr. Trate’s personal and professional goals is to help patients be proactive and undergo screening to prevent development of colorectal cancer.
Dr. Doug Trate lives in Blowing Rock with his wife and their 3 children. He loves walking and hiking, building a fire with his sons on cold days, and “putzing” around in the garden.
