Shana Hayes first realized she wanted to practice medicine after going on a mission trip to Nicaragua in 2013. She discovered a love for meeting people’s needs in a direct way and decided to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant. While attending Wingate University, she minored in Spanish in order to communicate with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients. She graduated from Wingate’s PA program in 2020, and although she enjoyed many of her clinical rotations, she particularly loves surgical specialties and family medicine.
In her free time, Shana enjoys spending time with her friends and family, hiking, reading, and watching movies. She is new to Boone but has fond memories of skiing in Boone with her youth group as a teenager. She looks forward starting a new life in the mountains and anticipates traveling to many countries to do medical mission work.
Shana will be practicing at Watauga Surgical Group in Boone and Tate Clinic in Linville.
