Dr. Wilson grew up in Bakersville, NC. He attended Wake Forest University as an undergraduate, obtained a Masters in Public Health degree at East Carolina University, and attended medical school at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Wilson completed his residency and served as core faculty at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia within the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine. He is married to Anna Dean and they have a son named Jack. The Wilson’s are expecting their second child in October. They enjoy hiking and spending time together as a family. Kyle is also a fan of Wake Forest University sports and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Dr. Wilson will join the full time faculty of the new MAHEC Boone Rural Family Medicine Residency program at Watauga Medical Center. Dr. Wilson singled out Boone for his next adventure because of the proximity to his hometown of Bakersville and his wife’s hometown of Asheville.
Dr. Alfred Earwood is board certified in Family Medicine and received his medical training at East Carolina University and completed his internship and residency at Quillen College of Medicine/East Tennessee State University. He began practicing medicine in Avery County in 1991 and joined Elk River Medical Associates in 1994.
Amanda Balylock joined the Appalachian Regional Healthcare System team in November 2016. She received her bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida in 2011. She went on to complete her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Bethel University in McKenzie, TN in 2015. Before moving to Boone, the Georgia native worked for an urgent care in Austin, TX. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, watching football and going to the gym.
Amy Chidester, MD is a graduate of Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. She completed her residency at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH with a specialty in family medicine. She completed a fellowship at Florida Hospital in Winter Park, FL with a specialty in OB.
Amy is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Angie Gonder, FNP-C has called the Mountains of NC home since 1985. She worked most of her career as an RN in the Emergency Department at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. Surrounded by so many awesome providers and encouraged to do more she obtained her Master’s in Nursing from University of Colorado Health Sciences in 2003. Like so many, she returned to our beautiful mountains. Angie is most passionate about caring for patients in the Urgent/Emergent setting and is excited to “come full circle” becoming a part of the excellent team of caring providers at the Baker Center for Primary Care. Hobbies include “anything outdoors” especially photography, woodworking, stonework and home “projects”.
