Dr. Richard Stork is a Pain Medicine physician and Director of the Appalachian Regional Pain Management Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, with a subspecialty certification in Pain Management. Additionally, he has been practicing Pain Management exclusively for more than 20 years.

Within the field of Pain Management, he is especially interested in treating pain due to spinal dysfunction, and the use of radiofrequency techniques (as applicable), and adjuvant medical therapies, such as antidepressant and anticonvulsant medications, as well as mind/body therapies, such as yoga and cognitive behavioral therapy.

Dr. Stork grew up in a large family on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. His siblings are scattered all along the east coast, and they remain very close. Dr. Stork obtained his undergraduate degree in English with a concentration in writing from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. He went on to attend medical school at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia, and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina. From there, he completed a Fellowship in Pain Management at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

His children are mostly grown now, and he enjoys spending his free time in the outdoors, as well as cultural pursuits, such as reading, and playing fingerstyle guitar, especially American “roots” music. He also enjoys spending (too much) time in the kitchen!
