Amanda Balylock joined the Appalachian Regional Healthcare System team in November 2016. She received her bachelor’s degree in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida in 2011. She went on to complete her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies at Bethel University in McKenzie, TN in 2015. Before moving to Boone, the Georgia native worked for an urgent care in Austin, TX. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, watching football and going to the gym.
Andrew Gray, PA-C is a Physician Assistant with AppUrgent Care, a member of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. A graduate of Wake Forest School of Medicine, Andrew is licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board and is nationally certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Prior to his career as a Physician Assistant, Andrew spent several years doing mission work throughout North America, Africa and Central America and is a fluent, Spanish-speaking Medical Provider. When not at work, he is an active member of Harvest House Church and enjoys all manner of outdoor adventures with his wife, Meg, and their two children.
Angie Gonder, FNP-C has called the Mountains of NC home since 1985. She worked most of her career as an RN in the Emergency Department at Watauga Medical Center in Boone. Surrounded by so many awesome providers and encouraged to do more she obtained her Master’s in Nursing from University of Colorado Health Sciences in 2003. Like so many, she returned to our beautiful mountains. Angie is most passionate about caring for patients in the Urgent/Emergent setting and is excited to “come full circle” becoming a part of the excellent team of caring providers at the Baker Center for Primary Care. Hobbies include “anything outdoors” especially photography, woodworking, stonework and home “projects”.
Honors: American Nursing Credentialing Center Board Certified and has been inducted to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society
Gray Lackey, PA-C, is a native of North Carolina. He attended Appalachian State University, where he received a BS in exercise science. Gray continued his education at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he became interested in acute care. After graduating from Physician Assistant school, Gray gained experience working in the Emergency Department. He then accepted a job in urgent care, where he practiced for three years in the Triad area of NC.
Gray returned to Boone as a provider with AppUrgent Care Center in 2017. Outside of work he enjoys being outdoors, exercising, as well as spending time with friends and family. In his spare time, Gray also likes working on various do-it-yourself projects.
Laura Zimmerman, Ph.D., M.D., became AppUrgent Care Center’s first medical provider when the practice opened in 2011. Dr. Zimmerman completed her medical training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her residency at Duke University Medical Center and Pitt County Memorial Hospital. Outside of medicine, she also has her M.ED. from the University of Houston and her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Before joining AppUrgent, she practiced medicine at Rex Express Care in Holly Springs, NC. When not at work, she enjoys reading, exercise and going to the theatre.
