Staff Bios - The Rehabilitation Center


Emily Roberts, PT - Clinical Manager of Rehabilitation Services for Watauga Medical Center. Emily graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and has worked as a physical therapist in the High Country for more than 22 years. ·Her background is in home health, outpatient PT with an emphasis on neurological rehab, balance and vestibular dysfunction, as well as acute care therapy.


Charlie Hypes, PT - Clinical Manager/Linville Charlie has been serving as a Physical Therapist at CMH for 15 years. He graduated from East Carolina University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy. He has spent the majority of his career in a hospital and outpatient setting working in direct patient care. He resides in Beech Mountain with his wife and two sons.


Shirley Faw, OTR/L - Shirley is an occupational therapist, receiving her degree from Texas Women's University in 1979. She is certified by the Vodder School in treatment of lymphedema. Special interests include hand/orthopedic injuries, splinting and lymphedema management.


Michelle Forrest, OTR/L, CLT-LANA - Michelle graduated form Lenoir Rhyne College in 1999 with a B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy. Michelle is certified in the treatment of lymphedema by the Vodder School and the Lymphedema Association of North America (LANA). Special interests include neurological rehabilitation, hand therapy, aquatic therapy and lymphedema management.


Candace Shelton, PT, DPT - Candace holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from East Tennessee State University and comes to BRPT from Quillen Rehabilitation Hospital in Johnson City, TN. She has experience in treating individuals with various diagnoses, primarily those with neurological impairments. Candace is a native of Watauga County and is excited for the opportunity to serve the individuals living in the High Country. Special interests include neurological rehabilitation, vestibular rehabilitation, gait and balance disorders.


John Goodrich, PT - John obtained his Physical Therapy degree from Georgia State University and was licensed in 1978. He received certification in Manual therapy from the University of St. Augustine in 1991 and has continued training in manual therapy, including joint manipulation. He is credited as co-author of the article, "Long-term follow-up of knee injuries in high school football players," in The American Journal of Sports Medicine. He presented "Assessment Procedures for the Lumbar Spine" at the NC Athletic Trainers Association annual meeting, and "Low Back Pain and the Primary Care Physician" to the Watauga County Medical Society. John's special interests include the treatment of spine and extremity disorders, TMJ disorders, headaches, and the implementation of evidence-based practice in physical therapy.


Katherine Graham, PT, MA - Katherine is a physical therapist and licensed psychological associate. She received her degree in Physical Therapy from UNC-Chapel Hill. Katherine holds a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from ASU. Special areas of interest include neurological rehabilitation, gait and balance disorders, and biofeedback. She is certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation and NDT - Adult Hemiplegia.


Martiza Greene, PT - Maritza obtained her degree in Physical Therapy in 2001 from Winston Salem State University after working as a physical therapy assistant for seven years. Maritza's primary interest is in Orthopedic Sports Rehabilitation, the diagnosis and treatment of movement impairments and Women's Health with emphasis on treatment and management of pelvic musculoskeletal dysfunction and related urogynocological disorders.


Bill Mohr, PT - Bill received his physical therapy degree from The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in 1979 and joined the staff of Watauga Medical Center in 1998.·Having studied extensively with the NeuroOrthopaedic Institute, based in Adelaide, Australia, his primary areas of interest are integrating gentle, soft tissue mobilization, neurodynamics and client education in their application to posture, movement and athletics.
Since his graduation from The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in 1979, Bill has worked continuously as a Physical Therapist in a wide variety of settings and capacities. His primary area of interest is in the neuro-biological dynamics of movement, and its application to posture, normal activities, and athletics. Bill has studied extensively with The Neuro-Orthopaedic Institute and is certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.


Day Watson, DPT - Day joined the CMH Rehabilitation team in 2009. She graduated from Western Carolina University in 2007 with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy and then went on to complete her Doctors of Physical Therapy degree at Arcadia University in 2012. Day is skilled and knowledgeable in orthopedic, neurological, aquatic, and vestibular rehabilitation. Day blends a lot of energy and enthusiasm into her treatments and works very hard to help patients meet their individual goals.


Marc Whitt, PTA - Marc received his Associate Science degree in Physical Therapy from Caldwell Community College, 1993. He worked 10 years as a licensed physical therapist assistant in home health before transferring to Blue Ridge Physical Therapy in 2003. He is a member of the orthopedic team at BRPT and is working to develop the aquatic rehabilitation program.


Alicia DeBord, PT, CLT - Alicia received a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Misericordia University in Dallas, PA in 2002. She has 10 years experience working with the outpatient population including orthopedic and neurologic diagnosis. She became a certified lymphedema therapist through The Norton School in 2009. She especially enjoys working with the post surgical orthopedic population.


Kelly Conrad, PT -  Kelly received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Maryland Baltimore in 2009. She holds a position working in both acute care at Watauga Medical Center and outpatient at the Rehabilitation Center. Kelly strives to provide therapy intervention across the spectrum of injuries and disorders, but her special interests include the neurodegenerative disorders and other neurological conditions. In addition, she holds an instructor position at ASU in the anatomy lab teaching exercise science majors.
