COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments

COVID-19 VACCINES
ARHS offers the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine for adults age 18 and older at AppFamily Medicine and Baker Center for Primary Care. The CDC recommends COVID-19 vaccines as the best and most effective way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and preventing severe illness, hospitalizations, and death. There are two types of vaccines: mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna) and viral vector (Johnson & Johnson Janssen). Per the CDC, the mRNA vaccines are preferred over Johnson & Johnson (J&J) in most cases. However, J&J may be considered in some situations. COVID-19 vaccines are given at no cost to patients.

STAY UPDATED ON YOUR COVID-19 VACCINES
You are considered FULLY VACCINATED two weeks after receiving the recommended doses in the primary series of the COVID-19 vaccine. You are considered UP TO DATE when you have taken all recommended doses in the primary series and one booster dose if you are eligible.

COVID-19 VACCINE BOOSTERS
To strengthen and extend protections against severe illness, North Carolinians who have been fully vaccinated may now be eligible to receive a booster dose. The first booster vaccine can be administered 5 months after receiving the mRNA primary series (Pfizer or Moderna) or 2 months after getting the J&J COVID-19 vaccine. A second booster vaccine is may be indicated if you are 50 years or older, it has been at least 4 months since your 1st booster, and/or you have qualifying risk factors. Consult your primary care provider to see if you are eligible for the second booster.
