Dr. Angela McGhee joined Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in 2020. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology at Georgia Institute of Technology. She graduated medical school at Medical College of Georgia and completed her pediatric residency in Greenville, South Carolina at Prisma Health – Upstate (formerly known as Greenville Memorial Hospital).

She would describe herself as a foodie and an exercise enthusiast. She is always on the search for new restaurants to try, and she is frequently working out in the gym or running outdoors. Dr. Angela McGhee also enjoys traveling and exploring new places with her husband (Dr. Matthew McGhee).

During your hospital stay, a team of physicians, nurses, therapists, technicians and specialists work together to ensure that you receive the best medical care. AppPeds of Watauga Medical Center include board-certified pediatricians who care for infants, children, and adolescents while they are in the hospital. These providers are there shortly after a mother gives birth to care for the newborn, as well as treating children or adolescents who find themselves in the hospital for various reasons. The MAHEC Rural Family Medicine Residency program also works with Watauga Pediatric Hospitalists, placing residents in rotation for pediatric medicine.

Patient’s care teams include, but are not limited to: admissions specialists, case managers, social workers, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, dietitians, x-ray technicians, financial navigators, insurance specialists and physicians, many of whom work behind the scenes to support those who work at your bedside.
