Behavioral Health

ARHS Behavioral Health Services offers outpatient clinics in both Boone and Linville, as well as a 10-bed inpatient Behavioral Health Unit located at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville.

The following Behavioral Health specialists are available to serve your needs:

Mark Ellis, MD
Mark Ellis, MD, is a general adult psychiatrist. He obtained his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed residency in psychiatry at St. Louis University Group Hospitals. Dr. Ellis sees patients 18 and older. He has particular interest in treating depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Rebecca Moretz, MD
Dr. Moretz is a board certified psychiatrist and treats children, adolescents and adults. In addition to treating mood and behavioral disorders, she also has experience in women’s mental health and particularly in the treatment of mental health issues during pregnancy and the post-partum period. Dr. Moretz also has experience in treating individuals with autism and eating disorders.

Alycia Brown, MD
Dr. Brown is board-certified in both adult and child psychiatry and sees patients age 5 and older. She trained at UNC Chapel Hill and has particular interests in treating autism spectrum disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD and eating disorders.

Rebecca Greene, LPC
Rebecca Greene is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor.  She works on the inpatient unit providing care coordination services for our psychiatric patients.  She obtained her Masters in Community Counseling from Appalachian State University in 2003 and worked in the Cannon and Watauga Medical Center outpatient programs for six years prior to moving to the inpatient unit.

Eva Trivett-Clark, LPA
Eva Trivett-Clark is a Licensed Psychological Associate and Health Services Provider in North Carolina.  She has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and enjoys helping clients recognize and replace illogical and upsetting thoughts with more rational and calm producing thoughts.  Her clinical interests include health psychology and wellness, sociopathy, psychopathy and treatment of depression and schizophrenia.

Jennifer Garland, LCSW
Jennifer Garland, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, sees children, adolescents and adults for both individual and family therapy.  She has experience in working with law enforcement and crisis intervention.  Jennifer has also worked with school systems to help students at risk for violence, self harm and truancy.

Jody Gardner, LMFT
Jody Gardner treats adolescents, adults, and families. He received his Masters Degree at Appalachian State University in Marriage and Family Therapy. Jody is trained in Systems Theory, Experiential, Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Enhancement, Substance Abuse and Person Centered Theories. He specializes in individual, couples and family therapy. Jody treats a wide spectrum of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, self esteem and recovery issues. In addition, Jody served as the director for the Northwest Chapter for the North Carolina Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Mike Vannoy, LCAS
Mike Vannoy treats adolescents, adults, and families. He received his Masters Degree at Appalachian State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Counseling. Mike is trained in Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Enhancement, Gestalt, Experiential, Integrated, Family Systems, and Person Centered Theories. He specializes in individual therapy with an emphasis on coping skill acquisition. Mike treats a wide spectrum of mental health issues including early and on-going addiction recovery related issues to assist both the substance user and the family. In addition, Mike was elected in 2012 as a representative from the Western Region serving a 4 year term with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board.
